Chapter 33
“How's my little girl?” Nick asked Nikki as she dived out of my arms into his.
“She's just fine. She's gotten better at flying,” I laughed. “Could you grab Jacob while I help out Amber?”
“What's Arrianna up to now?” Nick laughed.
“I don't know, but they're still not off of the plane and they were right behind me!” I handed Jacob over to Nick and went to find Amber.
Amber's View
“Arrianna Marie McLean get over here right now!!” I yelled as my daughter refused to come out from under the airplane seats.
“What's going on?” Rhonda asked walking back on the plane.
“It's my devil child,” I said handing Tyler to Rhonda so I could get a better grip on her. “She's refusing to come out from under the seat.”
“Why?” Rhon asked as she took Tyler.
“Why does she do anything?” I asked as I as grabbed her leg and pulled her out finally. “Because she's AJ's daughter.”
Rhonda laughed as we finally walked off the plane with her carrying a still sleeping Tyler and me struggling to carry wiggling Arrianna.” We walked over to where Nick was standing with the twins.
Rhonda's View
“Are you okay with them?” I asked Nick.
“Absolutely. I missed these guys.”
“Okay then. Let's go get our luggage,” Amber said as she tried to keep Arrianna from slipping out of her arms.
Amber walked ahead of Nick and I to the baggage claim area.
“How are you?” Nick asked concerned.
“It's getting easier every day. I think we'll all be okay.”
“I've been worrying about you guys.”
“We're okay – really we are,” I said trying to convince Nick.
“Well...he said. You definitely look good,” he winked.
“So do you. Touring does wonders for you,” I laughed.
“Are you guys done yet?” Amber laughed.
“What?” Nick and I said in unison.
“Are you guys done flirting?”
“We're not flirting! We're just catching up!!”
“Yeah okay –call it whatever you want. I call it flirting.”
We grabbed our luggage and headed outside to the vans.
“These guys will take you to the hotel to get settled in and then take you to the concert. Here are you passes and stuff like that,” Nick said as he got the kids into the van. “I gotta head over there before Kevin yells at me for being late.”
“We could have found our way there Nick, you didn't have to come pick us up,” Amber laughed. “We don't want Kevin to yell at you, now do we?”
“I just wanted to see you guys,” Nick said.
“Don't you mean you wanted to see Rhonda?” Amber laughed as she playfully nudged him.
I looked at Nick for his answer and he just blushed.
“I'll see you guys in a while,” Nick laughed and climbed into other van.
“Hey guys,” Amber and I said as we walked into the dressing room after concert.
“Hey Rhon,” Howie mumbled.
“Hi...how are you?”
“Good – really good...come here and give Daddy a hug,” Howie said to Jacob and Nikki. “Do you mind if I take them around and show them off a bit?”
“Nope – go ahead. This is their time to spend with their Daddy.”
Howie smiled and took the kids out of the room.
Nick came over and put his arms around me. “Are you still okay?” he whispered into my ear.
I looked into his eyes, “Yeah almost better than ever.”
Amber's View
“Hi,” I said as AJ walked over to me.
“Hey,” he said. There was awkwardness between us. “Where are the kids?”
“Oh they were tired and getting kind of cranky so Kristen offered to take them back to the hotel for me.”
“Oh,” AJ struggled to find something to say. “How were they on the plane?”
“Well Tyler was an angel and slept the entire way up here but Arrianna… she was definitely your daughter!”
“And during the concert?” AJ asked.
“Does dancing and falling off of a chair mean anything to you?”
AJ let out a small laugh and that stopped as he looked over my shoulder. I looked to where he was and saw Nick and Rhonda sitting close beside each other on a couch.
